David was first elected to the Manitoba Métis Federation Government in 2018 as regional director, and then shortly after was appointed Associate Minister of Provincial Education. In the spring of 2021, he was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture. Also, in 2021 he was appointed as a director of the Red River Métis Fur Company.
In 2022 he was re-elected by acclamation as Regional Executive Officer of the Winnipeg Region MMF.

David has a Manitoba Vocational Teaching Diploma and is currently pursuing an adult education degree. He also has various certificates which includes; Adult Education, Power Engineering and Multimedia Computer applications.
David has recently retired from RRC after 22 years of teaching applied technology, trades and business as a vocational instructor and has coordinated several programs at Red River College.

During his time at RRC he was elected to represent the faculty and staff on the Board of Governors of RRC. He also was a union steward for 12 years with MGEU.
He and his wife Elizabeth have 5 adult children between them, and are active members of the Métis community, and love to volunteer at events.
