Opening Day Preview – What to Look For on Day One
Manitoba Ag Days is ready to welcome you #back2business on Tuesday, January 17th. “After two years of virtual shows, we are excited to see everyone in person at the Keystone Center! The 46th annual show has a fantastic speaker program and the Innovation Showcase contenders are a must-see part of the show.” said Dave Crammond, Manitoba Ag Days Board Co-Chair.
Opening day is packed with incredible opportunities to network, learn and do business!
Don’t miss the Kickoff Breakfast, which takes place in the Great Western Roadhouse from 7:30am-9:00am on Tuesday, January 17th and is presented by Heritage Co-Op with special thanks to the Canad Inns and Q-Country 91.5 for their support. Admission is by donation and all proceeds from the kickoff breakfast will go to Ag in the Classroom – Manitoba.
The Manitoba Canola Growers Association program runs in the FCC Theatre on Tuesday morning and begins at 9:00AM with Chris Vervaet, Executive Director, Canadian Oilseed Processors Association presenting on Fuel for the Future. Chris will outline the policy landscape in North American and how this translated into environmental and economic opportunities for the canola value chain. At 10:00AM a panel discussion will provide the straight goods on The Buzz Around Economics and Agronomics of Nitrogen use in Canola. If you are looking for a way to engage your friends and family, invite them to hear comedian Big Daddy Tazz take a humorous look at life’s triumphs and tribulations. Out of my Mind begins at 11:00AM. We have local, provincial and federal dignitaries bringing greetings, beginning at 1:15PM. You will not want to leave early, because Peter Zeihan, Geopolitical Strategist and author, takes the stage at 4:00PM with his thought provoking presentation on Agriculture at the End of the World.
The MNP Theatre also has a full day scheduled, beginning with the Ag Days Gives Back presentations at 9:00AM. Eight rural fire departments are being awarded $2000 grants and agriculture education is being supported through three, $1000 post-secondary scholarships and a $10,000 grant to Ag in the Classroom – Manitoba. The rest of the morning is dedicated to Agriculture Diversified, beginning with Mady Adamson, a fifth-generation grain farmer, sharing Why I Wanted My Class to Learn About Agriculture at 9:30AM. Panel discussions are scheduled for 10:00AM and 11:00AM and will address the hot topics of capitalizing on innovative opportunities and filling workforce needs. Greg Peterson, better known as Machinery Pete, will give his perspective on Used Equipment is the new “NEW” at 1:30PM, as part of the Iron Revolution program on Tuesday afternoon.
