Manitoba Ag Days Presents Year of the Young Farmer #agdaysyf

Manitoba Ag Days is pleased to announce that we will be celebrating the 41st annual show with the theme of “The Year of the Young Farmer!”

“The timing is perfect to celebrate Young Farmers! Times are changing, the demographics on the farm and in the industry, are changing.  We had a lot of fun reminiscing about the past at the 40th Anniversary and now we are excited to celebrate the future!”explained Brad Crammond, Manitoba Ag Days Board Chair.

To kick off the celebration we are encouraging all young farmers to stop by our selfie station, take a picture and post it on social media with the hashtag #agdaysyf Everyone who takes part will receive a Manitoba Ag Days retro hat (while supplies last) and will have the opportunity to be enter into the draw for an ALL-INCLUSIVE CUBAN FARM TOUR courtesy of Reit-Syd Equipment in Dauphin and John Deere Canada!

“Twenty years ago, opinions were that there would not be any young farm operators or owners. It is impressive and inspiring to see so many young farmers taking over farm operations all while taking Manitoba’s agriculture output to ever increasing record levels.  We are extremely excited to support and participate in celebrating Year of the Young Farmer at the 41st Manitoba Ag Days!” stated Don Tarrant, General Manager Reit-Syd Equipment.

Tuesday there are various events taking place with young farmers in mind. There will be a young farmer luncheon with the Hon. Ralph Eichler, Minister of Agriculture attending and both the University of Manitoba and Assiniboine Community College Agriculture students will be visiting the show. New for this year, the three young farmer organizations in Manitoba will be hosting a young farmer lounge.  “We are excited to announce that the Outstanding Young Farmers, Keystone Agriculture Producers and Canadian Young Farmers Forum have worked together to provide a space where people can  relax for a few minutes, have some snacks and network with others all day Tuesday.  There will be lots of information available and personnel around to answer questions.” stated Andrea Guthrie, Media Coordinator Manitoba Ag Days. Young Farmers will be celebrated in many aspects throughout the three days of the show. The speaker lineup is full of young farmers speaking on various topics in both the MNP and FCC theatres. Be sure to review the show guide online or look in your mailbox for your paper copy this week.

“Our Youth are Our Future!  We hope we can inspire the next generation to get involved, be leaders and carry the torch in agriculture.” exclaimed Kristen Phillips, General Manager, Manitoba Ag Days
