Canada’s Largest Indoor Farm Show Gives Back

November 15, 2017 is the deadline for nonprofit charitable organizations and Assiniboine Community College Agri -Business students to submit applications for the 2018 Manitoba Ag Days Gives Back community giving and scholarship program. Up to $27,000 is awarded annually for community improvement projects and educational scholarships. Recipients will be announced in January at the three-day event taking place at Brandon’s Keystone Centre January 16, 17, & 18th.
In 2015 the Manitoba Ag Days’ board launched the “Ag Days Gives Back” community giving program. For years’ the not for profit organization has been supporting the educational component of Agriculture through post-secondary scholarships as well as supporting Agriculture in the Classroom initiatives. “In 2015 the board expanded the program to include community giving grants focused on community infrastructure upgrades, agriculture and heritage initiatives and safety and emergency services in the rural communities” stated Kristen Phillips, General Manager.
“As a not for profit organization we wanted to positively impact the lives of our exhibitors and patron’s. We are fortunate to share the show’s success by giving back to the rural communities that are the heart of our industry”, stated Brad Crammond, Board Chair.

Last year’s recipients are as follows and we are very proud to be a part of building stronger rural communities in the heart of the agriculture industry.

Community Improvement – Community Infrastructure Upgrades & Improvements – Ecole Ile Chenes School Playground Project $5000

Community Improvement Agriculture and Heritage Killarney – Turtle Mountain Arts Council $5000

Community Improvement – Safety & Emergency Services The Farm Safety Foundation – Grain Safety Program $5000

Education and Leadership – Agricultural Youth Education Agriculture in the Classroom -Manitoba $8000

ACC Diploma Scholarship: Morgan McBain $1000

U of M’s Diploma Scholarship: Renate Jochum $1000

U of M’s Degree Scholarship: Seth Baker $1000

If your community has projects such as playgrounds, renovations to recreation facility, emergency services needing new equipment or an annual fair / event that needs support, please apply.
