The Runner up of the Farm Built Solutions Category of the Innovation Showcase is Cullross Commodities Ltd. with their innovation the Bin-brella!

The Bin-Brella is an auger mounted protective shield that sheds rain from entering a grain bin. This ends the need to lift the auger and climb the bin to close the lid, all while wearing muddy boots in the pouring rain. Made of durable polyethylene.

The Bin-brella should be on every farm!  Who hasn’t ran home from the field to close the bin in a down pour? Having to climb 25′ up a flimsy ladder….. with muddy boots ….while the rain hammers down off the roof while trying to reach the eave to scale onto the slick sheet metal roof. It is so dangerous I won’t allow anyone to do it but myself………well, with Bin-Brella, that’s a thing of the past! Who hasn’t taken out of storage that first load ….only to have a clump of growth,…. grain growth from rain entering the bin lid opening. The growth makes it’s way down from the top of the bin, only to plug the mouth of the unload auger. Now what?? Trust me…….this is not fun for anyone! The Bin-brella is portable. It’s light. It attaches to the auger and moves with it. A Bin-Brella makes cents!
