2022

Scott Day, Venture Capital Agronomist, Treelane Farms Ltd. & Fall Line Capital LLC.

After doing his research at Manitoba Ag Days, Scott still recalls purchasing his first GPS lightbar for his tractor. Scott will share his experiences and observations after almost 10 years of working for an Ag Tech and Farmland Investment firm based in Silicon Valley. He will touch on some of the emerging technologies that could have a profound impact on food production and consumption, along with impacting energy production and climate change mitigation.

John Anderson, Founder / Chairmen, JCA Technologies

Advanced control systems and autonomous technology is about to have a huge impact on agriculture, not only on the equipment used but driving change in the relationship producers have with industry partners.   Value will be provided to the farmer in new ways and monetization will follow. The future is not yet written in stone, but autonomous technology is increasingly being adopted across all farming applications such that we can start getting a picture of what it will look like at a high level.  John will share his perspective on this brave new world.

Peter Manness, Farm Management Consultant, MNP @MNP_Ag

Patsy Hewitt, Partner & Business Advisor, MNP @MNP_Ag

The extreme risk facing producers today has brought both opportunity and threats. Now more than ever we need to include risk management planning as part of the annual review process.  Just like two raincoats don’t keep your feet dry in a storm, more insurance that covers the same risk doesn’t always help you. Understanding your exposure and how to effectively layer your risk management options to maximize coverage for the farm is critical.  Join Patsy Hewitt and Peter Manness as they discuss MNP’s approach to building a better risk management plan.
