Dennis Lange: Dennis Lange is the Provincial Pulse and Soybean Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture. He has been with the department since 2011 and has been involved in the pulse & soybean industry for the last 27 years working with soybeans, peas, dry beans and various other pulses. Dennis is also an avid photographer and also enjoys listen to vinyl (His collection is greater than his Hawaiian shirt collection). Dennis is also known for his collection over 200 Hawaiian shirts and counting.

In his role as executive director of Soy Canada he leads the organization’s efforts to create value through collaboration. Prior to joining Soy Canada, he led the Canola Council’s public affairs activities, served as president of the Canadian Agri-food Trade Alliance and was a senior consultant with the Ottawa office of an international public affairs firm. He holds a B.Sc., Agriculture from the University of Guelph and and M.Sc., Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan. He resides in Ottawa and is active in several community organizations.

Laura Woloshyn Grzenda was raised on a farm in the Interlake region of Manitoba where she and her husband Colin now own and operate their own forage seed and leafcutter bee operation along with their three children. She is a Professional Agrologist and holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba, with a major in Agroecology and a minor in Entomology. Laura has been a Land Management Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture for over 15 years, where her areas of focus include sustainable production and agri-environmental management. She is heavily involved in the development and delivery of the Environmental Farm Plan program as well as BMP cost share programming in Manitoba.

John is an entomologist with Manitoba Agriculture based out of Carman. He conducts monitoring programs for some of the more common insect pests of crops, and provides information on insects, both beneficial and potential pests, to farmers, agronomists and those working in agriculture. John does numerous presentations and information updates for agronomists and farmers, and co-produces a weekly Manitoba Crop Pest Update during the spring and summer. He has worked for Manitoba Agriculture since 1997. John has a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology and a M. Sc. in entomology from the University of Guelph, and completed his Ph.D. in the department of entomology at the University of Manitoba. Aside from entomology, John also enjoys cycling and observing almost any type of wildlife.

Tom Bruulsema has provided science-based support to industry organizations advancing nutrient stewardship for over 30 years. He has contributed to scientific papers relating crop nutrition to health-functional foods, greenhouse gas emissions, air quality, and eutrophication in Lake Erie. Tom received his PhD in Soil Science from Cornell University and his MSc in Crop Science from the University of Guelph. He has been recognized as a Fellow by the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, and the Canadian Society of Agronomy.

John is a retired soil fertility extension specialist that now grows sweet corn and boils maple syrup. He was schooled at University of Guelph and Purdue University but educated by working with farmers over40 years . He is a Certified Crop Adviser and still helps instruct soil fertility short courses for farmers and agronomists. His odd obsession is visiting and capturing state and provincial soils – 49 states and 8 provinces reside in his trophy case.
